Our baby is 1 today! It seems like it was just yesterday when we brought Sadie Jo home and now she is a big girl. Well, t

hat is what her daddy and mama have been telling her all day long. It seemed like a normal day until dinner. We surprised Sadie Jo with her own plate. For her birthday dinner, she had grilled teriyaki chicken, bow-tie pasta with alfredo sauce and stir-fry veggies. It was all real yummy and she wanted seconds, but was disappointed to find that her seconds would only be her normal after dinner plate cleaning routine.

Sadie Jo knew something else must have been coming since she licked the cake batter from the beater earlier. She could also smell sweet and yummy aroma coming from the oven. It was after dinner when Sadie Jo received her bag of gifts from mama, daddy and her sisters. There sure were a lot of goodies in that bag. She found it hard to pick which one was her favorite. Her presents were the following: a stuffed parrot, a pink loofa dog, a baseball that jingles, a cow toe, a cow ear, a box of Bil-Jac treats, a pound of assorted doggie treats and a peanut butter bone treat. She seems to like playing with both the stuffed toys and loves chewing on the cow toe. Hopefully the cow toe will be something that will take her longer than a day to chew through. It is amazing how many compressed rawhide bones she goes through.

After checking out all her goodies, we frosted her French vanilla cupcakes with lemon frosting. To make sure Sadie Jo liked lemon frosting, I let her try the frost right from the knife. She licked it clean, almost as fast as she licks the canned cat food from the spoon each evening. Then it was time to sing "Happy Birthday" and light her candles. Sadie Jo was not sure about the flames coming from the candles. It took a little convincing to get her near her birthday table until we blew out the candles. Just like all kids on their first birthdays, Sadie Jo started with the frosting and immediately made a mess by dumping the cupcake upside down on the carpet. Thank goodness

I did not shampoo the dining room carpet yet. Mama stepped in to help the situation and took the paper off then crumbled the cupcake on her plate. While we were resituating, Sophie came in for a little nibble. Thank goodness Sadie Jo did not see this or we might have had a sibling disagreement with mama in the middle. Sadie Jo was a little let down when she found out that she only got one cupcake.
Of course everyone had to wear

a birthday hat in honor of Sadie Jo's birthday. In order of appearance Sadie Jo's sisters, Zowie, Sophie, and Squeekers with a little audience admiring her party hat.

All in all Sadie Jo had a memorable birthday.
Happy Birthday Sadie Jo!!!!
