Blog Hop # 19 - What’s your favorite holiday decoration? (it can be stitched or not stitched) Share a picture if you have one!
I have always loved the holidays and decorating is in my
genes. One side of my family goes all
out with lights and everything Christmas.
The other side is a bit more controlled or at least has a theme or color
scheme that goes throughout their holiday décor.
I have really tried not to have eclectic holiday décor, but
I love it all so I have compromised and have groupings of like
decorations. My holiday décor has
increased over the last five years as my Grandma has downsized and has given me
a couple of boxes with her holiday décor.
The best part about opening the boxes was finding ornaments and décor that
I remember as a child. I brought out the
box this Christmas and showed my mom.
She was able to remember several of the items also. A couple of my favorite items that she gave
me were a couple of old glass ornaments that are in the shape of bells that are
frosted in a bluish gray color with silver glitter and trim on them. They remind me of my Grandparents 25th
wedding anniversary that took place when I was 3. My mom said that she remembered these two
ornaments from around that time but thought there were several more. I’m just happy to have the two.
My other favorite décor is our mantel were I have a
wonderful evergreen garland adorned with a few white poinsettias and red berry
clusters. This is where I also display
my crystal angel that I received for a secret santa gift. I also have a Lavender & Lace Angel. This year I did add my glass WSU ornament
along with the WSU ornament that I stitched this year.
A couple of years back I realized I had a bunch of snowman
ornaments and décor so I decide that I needed to have a snowman grouping. I keep changing the location of them since
they seem to be multiplying. In this
grouping, I have Herbert a cross stitched snowman. He is so cute that I framed him after stitching
him about 10 years ago.
As you may have concluded, I do not have one particular holiday
décor item that I can say is my favorite.
I love the holiday so much that I even bought Pfaltzgraff’s Winterberry
dishes that I bring out the day after Thanksgiving and we use them until right
before Valentine’s Day. What can I say,
I love the holidays and all the décor that goes all with it.
